Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for all financial operations of the City insuring that statutory requirements consistent with established and generally accepted accounting and auditing procedures are met. Included in this operation is the administration, processing and accounting of the City's payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, investments of funds for the City, employee retirement administration and risk management. Finance is responsible annually for the audit, budget, capital improvement program and the long range financial plan for the City. Finance also directs the issuance of municipal debt and industrial revenue bonds.

We are proud to report that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Shawnee by Government finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
