Trips and Tours

Shawnee and Mission are teaming up for 2022 and we can’t wait to show you the exciting trips we planned! Join us for an opportunity to register for upcoming 2022 trips! This event will be held on Wednesday, January 5th. The first session is at 10:00am at the Shawnee Civic Centre (13817 Johnson Drive) and the second session will be at 1:30pm at the Powell Community Center (6200 Martway). Pre-registration is not required, but appreciated!
Travel Show

Explore with Shawnee Parks & Recreation and Shawnee Mission Trips! All trips depart from and return to the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive. Each trip has its own individual registration and cancellation deadline. All trips must meet the minimum enrollment by the registration deadline, although many fill up prior to this date. If space remains, additional registrations may be taken until the trip is full. Cancellations will be accommodated as available. Many trips have deposits and deadlines that cannot be refunded. In the event that you need to cancel, we will make every attempt to issue any refunds that may still be available.

Stone's Throw Dinner Theater (February 6)

We’re headed to Carthage, MO for dinner and a show. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery on the drive down, then we’ll watch a production “Of Mice & Men” while we dine.

Prairie Band Casino (February 14)

Travel with us to Prairie Band Casino! Grab your lucky rabbit’s foot and enjoy 5 hours of gaming with $10 of Prairie Cash and a $10 food voucher! Don’t forget your government issued photo ID.

Kansas Crossing & CHICKEN (March 23)

Head south with us to visit the KS Crossing Casino in Pittsburg, KS. After 4 hours of gaming, we’ll jet over to Chicken Mary’s and see how it compares to the Chicken Annie’s down the road! Player’s receive a $20 player’s card at casino. Don’t forget your government issued ID or you can’t play!

Tulips in Topeka (April 7)

It's tulip time! Join us for a van trip to Topeka to see the tulips! This annual Topeka tradition never disappoints. We will enjoy a sack lunch at the lake followed by a visit to the Ted Ensley Gardens for Tulip Time! Following our visit, we will enjoy  a sweet treat at G's Frozen Custard (included).

Stops Along the Santa Fe Trail (April 22)

We're heading down the Santa Fe Trail! We'll load up and explore over 25 historical sites in Council Grove, KS. After exploring the Post Office Oak Museum and Seth Hays Home, we will enjoy a chicken fried chicken lunch with all the fixins at the famous Hays House, shopping downtown. After lunch we will hop on board our comfortable motorcoach with a step on guide for a tour around Council Grove and it's 25 historical sites! Before heading home, we will swing by the Trail Days Café and Museum for one last sweet treat!

Cinco de Mayo at Jefferson Hill Winery (May 5)

We’re heading back to Jefferson Hill Winery! Nestled in the rolling hills of Northeast Kansas we will enjoy sweeping fives of nature’s beauty and the Jefferson Hill vines. We will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a homemade Mexican fiesta! Following lunch we will enjoy a tour and history of the winery with the owners themselves!

Summer on the Farm (June 9)

Life is sweet on the farm! Join us as we explore two central Missouri farms. From Clydesdales to lavender we will see animals, farms and gardens! We'll kick the day off at Warm Springs Ranch. Home of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales. We hope to even meet the newest spring foals! After the tour we will enjoy lunch at the Rocheport General Store. Nestled in the heart of downtown Rocheport, MO this quaint general store is a staple in town! After lunch we will head to The Lookout Farm. The smells are free on this family owned lavender farm. Life truly is sweeter on the farm! The sweetness doesn't end there, we'll swing by Russell Stover on our way back home!

Joslyn Adventure (July 12)

All aboard! We're headed to Omaha, NE! We will enjoy a tour of the Joslyn Castle, a Docent led tour of the Joslyn Art Museum, lunch at the Joslyn Art Museum and a Lauritzen Gardens Tram Tour.

The Truman Library & Independence Square (July 21)

Truman Library, here we come! The newly renovated Truman Library is now open and we are on our way! Join us for a self-guided tour of the library followed by free time on the downtown Independence Square.
