Swim and Dive Lessons

Families enroll based on the dates and times that work best for their schedule, and children are placed into groups by skill level on the first day of class. This program focuses on safety, skill development, and individual attention in a supportive environment. Classes are held at the Thomas A. Soetaert Aquatic Center and Splash Cove, with morning and evening time slots available.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Private and semi-private swim lessons allow students to learn at their own pace with focused, individualized instruction from an experienced instructor. Lessons follow a set schedule twice per week over a two-week period. Families may choose either a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedule, with start times of 12:30 p.m. or 4:20 p.m. Semi-private lessons are designed for two participants.

Swim Lesson Descriptors

Parent/Child (ages 1 - 3 ) Beginners
Parent/Child Swim Lessons focus on the little fish in your life. Children are introduced to basic swim skills that help them adjust to the aquatic environment and become comfortable in the water. Parents or guardians actively participate in each class, helping guide the learning process and build confidence in a supportive setting. Parent/Child lessons are limited to six parent/guardian and child pairs.

Preschool (ages 3 - 4)
Children will learn basic water skills, including water adjustment, safe water entries, assisted front and back floats, and glides. As they progress, children will learn to submerge independently, perform front and back floats on their own, and begin introductory skills for the front crawl stroke.
Progressive Swim Lessons (ages 5 and up)
Progressive Lessons follow a developmental approach that allows each child to learn at their own level. After the first class, children are placed in the level that best fits their skills and experience. From there, they advance at a comfortable, individualized pace, creating a positive and supportive learning experience.
Dive Lessons
Dive Lessons introduce participants to fundamental diving skills in a safe, structured environment. Instruction begins with headfirst entries from the side in a seated position and progresses to dives from the diving board as skills develop.Swimmers must complete swim lessons level 5 before participating in dive lessons.

Class times available: 11:40–12:10p.m.

Adult Swim Lessons


Learn to swim in a comfortable, relaxed setting. Adult swim lessons are designed for individuals with little or no swimming experience, as well as those looking to build confidence and improve skills.
Participants learn at their own pace with guidance from an instructor, focusing on basic strokes and water safety skills. Class sizes are limited to allow for meaningful instruction and individual attention.

Inclement Weather:
In the case of inclement weather, the Statusfy rainout line will be updated 30 minutes prior to class. You can call 913.815.2122 or visit the Statusfy website. Thursday and Friday of the second week may be used as make-up days due to weather cancellations.
