Tidy Town and Curbside Bulky-Item Pick Up

 Johnson County Landfill has adjusted their Saturday hours to 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Curbside Pickup Information

  • If you are a customer of Waste Management, Republic, or GFL Environmental, you will schedule your one free bulky item pickup directly with your trash hauler.
  • Constable Sanitation offers ONE large item curbside pickup on the first of every month.
  • If you are a customer of KC Disposal, they offer their Tidy Town pick up twice over the summer on dates KC Disposal will communicate with their customers.
  • Please call your individual haulers with questions. Please note that if you live in a neighborhood that is part of a Homeowners Association, your HOA may have a specific time scheduled for your Tidy Town. Be sure to contact your HOA first before calling your trash company to schedule a pickup.
  • Residents are allowed FIVE ITEMS for their curbside pickup.
  • All of the guidelines about what will be accepted curbside still apply. Some items included are listed below. You will want to double check with your trash hauler when you book your pickup to make sure the trash hauler’s guidelines have not changed.
    • Furniture
    • Mattresses
    • Most appliances except for refrigerators
    • Push lawn mowers with no fuel or oil
    • Up to 4 foot rolls of carpet (Must be securely tied and less than 50 pounds. Two rolls count as one item.)

     

  • Items NOT ACCEPTED curbside include:
  • Wood fencing and/or decking materials
  • Construction materials
  • Glass panels larger than four feet
  • Latex or oil-based paint
  • Tires
  • Automotive batteries, engine oil or fuel tanks
  • Hazardous materials or waste
  • Yard waste
  • Compressed gas cylinders
  • Bulk service must be scheduled and completed within the calendar year.

Landfill Voucher Information

  • Residents will also receive a voucher in the mail in January that they can redeem for one free drop-off at the landfill.
  • Residents are able to take a wider variety of items to the landfill.
  • Residents must turn in their voucher at the landfill at the time they are dropping off items.
  • Please note this drop-off is for residential and NOT commercial.
  • The landfill will accept one carload or pickup truck load per resident voucher.

  • If you did not receive a voucher in the mail, please send us an email with your address at [email protected] or call us at (913) 631-2500.
  • There will be no drop-off site available at Johnson Drive and Renner Road.
  • Residents will be charged for freon-containing appliances.
  • Open U-hauls are accepted; should be the size of a pickup truck or 5 cubic yards.
