The City is providing an update on stormwater pipe repairs near 60th Street and Monticello Road. In August 2025, crews completed a short-term fix to keep the road open. However, the damage to the pipe is too severe to delay a full replacement.
Closure Details:
- Start: Early October 2025
- Location: Monticello Road, just south of 60th Street
- Duration: Approximately 3–4 weeks
- Work: Crews will remove the damaged pipe, install a new pipe, and restore the roadway
This pipe was originally scheduled for replacement in summer 2025 to minimize disruption to nearby schools. The project was later postponed to summer 2026 due to manufacturing delays for the reinforced concrete box structures, with the expectation that the existing pipe would remain functional.
Unfortunately, heavy rainfall on July 16 caused rapid deterioration, forming a sinkhole on Monticello Road. Roadway plates were installed as an immediate safety measure, but permanent repairs can no longer be delayed.
Traffic Impacts:
- Mill Valley High School: Access from 60th Street (north side) or 61st Street (south side)
- Monticello Trails Middle School: Access only from 61st Street (south side)
- Clear Creek Elementary: Access only from the north side via Monticello
Please follow posted detours and do not use school parking lots as a cut-through. Driving through private property to bypass traffic control devices is illegal and enforceable by law enforcement.
We understand this closure will significantly impact traffic and appreciate your patience as our crews complete this urgent work safely and efficiently.
