Summer Camp Header

All camps are held at the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive, unless otherwise noted. You can register online or over the phone at (913) 631-5200. 

Fine & Performing Arts Camps
Fairy Princess Camp (ages 3 - 6)
Come join us for a magical trip to fairyland! Students will learn beginning ballet moves and recreate fairy tales with a sprinkling of pixie dust and little dress up! We will enter the land of enchantment each day and make friends with our fellow fairy princesses. We will have a tea party each day as we enjoy our lunch (students should bring a sack lunch each day). We will hear stories and also make a craft. No previous dance experience is necessary. We will learn a routine to perform for parents at the end of the last day. Instructor: Academy of the Arts.

Mermaid Camp (Ages 7 - 9) 
Come explore the magical world of Mermaids! We will work on learning fundamental acrobatic dance tricks and more… All while wearing a fantastic Mermaid Tail that participants will take home at the conclusion of camp! Instructor: Academy of the Arts

Glam Camp (ages 7 - 12)
Rock out like a pop star in this fun-filled, high energy camp! These superstars will enjoy dressing up, creating cool dances, and performing like the inner diva that they are! Turn up the music, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready to party! Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own lunch. They will perform a short concert for parents at the end of the last day. Instructor: Academy of the Arts

Cartoon Adventures in Space Camp (ages 7 – 12)
Join this awesome drawing workshop as we travel to the farthest reaches of our galaxy! From astronauts in jetpacks to out-of-this-world alien lifeforms, students will learn how to compose cartoon figures in dynamic poses. No drawing experience required. All supplies included.



Fantasy Forest Workshop Camp (ages 7 – 12)
Magical, mythical, marvelous art is coming your way in this workshop. Students will tap into their imagination while learning to draw otherworldly creatures such as fairies, trolls, forest monsters, a tree house, and more. Your child’s talent will truly enchant you as they create beautiful scenery and new masterpieces every day. No drawing experience necessary. All supplies provided.

Rocking Out! Camp (ages 7 – 12)
Join this awesome drawing workshop for five days of artistic, rock ‘n’ roll imagery. Students will draw stylized instruments, portraits of rock stars, rock-inspired cartoons, and a concert scene. No drawing experience required.

Sports & Fitness Camps
VolleyCamp (ages 8 - 11)
Come “bump” up the fun this summer learning and playing volleyball! This camp is designed to be a great opportunity to “dig” into the sport if it is a child’s first time to play and learn passing, setting, hitting and more, while also being a chance to stay involved over the summer for one who plays regularly. So come “serve” up a fun week of volleyball at VolleyCamp! Instructor: Coach Sarah-Margaret Heffernon

LTD Basketball Camp (ages 7 - 14)
Livin’ the Dream provides a camp that intensely focuses on the learning and development of basketball fundamentals. Science and Technology Camps
The Wright Stuff Aerodynamics Camp (ages 7 - 12)
From the earliest flying machines to the first rocket flights, this week long, hands-on program will give children a bird's eye view of the history and science of flight. Your child will build many different flying devices and explore the science of aerodynamics and flight with the help of Newton's laws. We don't stop there, though, because we're heading out of the atmosphere with a look at rockets and our Galactic neighborhood! Instructor: Mad Science

iGame Creators Camp (ages 6-12)
Want to create video games? This is an introductory course for younger students who want learn to build simple video games.  This course combines the art of video game design and animation to create interactive characters that fly around the screen. iCode App Design Camp (Ages 6-12)
This course offers younger students a fun, interactive look at coding. Students will create virtual apps and write their own programs that they can share with friends and family. This course makes learning to code fun and explores problem solving and programming logic. Students will have access to their accounts so the learning does not end at the door. Students should be able to read prior to taking this course. Instructor: Youth Tech Inc.

Rockin’ Robots Camp (ages 7 – 12)

This course provides students with a fun interactive look at the world of video game design and development. Roblox Studio-Programming and Game Development Camp (ages 8 - 17)
Calling all ROBLOX users! Join in with millions of gamers and immerse yourself in your own 3D world! ROBLOX Studio is a 3D-based program that uses physics, LUA programming, and individual creativity to build a world around you, and your avatar - unlike any other software This course will guide students through concepts such as beginner physics, LUA programming, and game development and then they will publish their own multiplayer game to share with friends and family! Clues, Crimes and Culprits Science Camp (ages 5 – 8)
Oh NO! The Mad Science monkey is missing! Will you help us figure out where the monkey is? How he got out? And, what he is up to? Join the Mad Science crew as we gather the evidence from the crime scene, and take it back to the lab to analyze it. As the week goes on we will use chemistry, forensics science, physics, and biology to solve the crime. Each Jr. Mad Scientist will get a lab coat, magnifying glass, and a case notebook to keep at the end of the week! Instructor: Mad Science

Gamers Paradise Design Camp (ages 6 - 13)

Animation Camp (ages 9 - 17)
In this class students will learn the basics of animation and digital design. Students who enjoy going to various sites to see fun interactive animations will love this course. Advanced Robotics Camp (ages 9 - 14)
Robots are not just science fiction anymore! Join us for a week of fun with robots and learn all about the science of robotics. Discover the science behind gears and how robots use sensors to explore things around them. Learn about artificial intelligence and how it is revolutionizing our world. Put all this knowledge to use when you build your very own robot as you join us this summer in the Mad Science robot world. Instructor: Mad Science
