All camps are held at the Shawnee Civic Centre, 13817 Johnson Drive, unless otherwise noted. You can register online or over the phone at (913) 631-5200. 

Creative Arts Camps
Summer Time Creatives Camp (ages 5 - 8) 
Gather your Creatives and join us for a music, movement, and art camp. Each day will be themed around a Summer Time element as we explore songs, instrument play, creative movement, pretend play, yoga, themed props and open-ended art making opportunities. We’ll engage those imaginations to dance in the sun, design our own swimming pool, go to the beach, and get sweaty all without ever leaving the comfort of the Civic Centre. We’ll get creative because to create is to be brave! Instructor: Jessica Pitts, Kids Creative Space

Christmas in July Creatives Camp (ages 5 - 8)
Merry Christmas (in July)! Gather your 5-8 year old Creatives and join us for a music, movement, and art camp. Each day will be themed around Christmas as we explore songs, instrument play, creative movement, yoga, pretend play, themed props and open ended art making opportunities. Your Creative can expect to carol, decorate cookies, have snowball fights, put up a tree, and partake in general festive merriment. We’ll get creative because to create is to be brave! Performing Arts Camps
Glam Camp (ages 7 - 12)
Rock out like a pop star in this fun-filled, high-energy camp! These superstars will enjoy dressing up, creating cool dances, and performing like the inner diva that they are! Turn up the music, put on your dancing shoes, and get ready to party! Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring their own lunch. They will perform a short concert for parents at the end of the last day. Instructor: Academy of the Arts. Location: Academy of the Arts, 5413 Martindale.

Fairy Princess Camp (ages 3 - 6)
Fairy Princess CampStudents will learn beginning ballet moves and recreate fairy tales with a sprinkling of pixie dust and little dress up! We will have a tea party each day as we enjoy our lunch (bring a sack lunch each day). No previous dance experience is necessary. We will learn a routine to perform for parents at the end of the last day. Instructor: Academy of the Arts. Location: Academy of the Arts, 5413 Martindale.

Mermaid Camp (ages 7 - 9)
Come explore the magical world of Mermaids! We will work on learning fundamental acrobatic dance tricks and more… All while wearing a fantastic Mermaid Tail that participants will take home at the end of camp! Instructor: Academy of the Arts.

Theater Camp (ages 8 - 13)
Let it Go… on stage! All Drama Queens and Kings welcome. This camp is a must for any kids interested in performing. Do You Wanna Build Your Skillset? We will work on acting skills, while also learning some fun songs and dances to show tunes from classic animation films... Each summer is different based on the kiddos who participate! The camp ends with a performance on Friday. Trust us, You Ain’t Never Had a Camp like Theater Camp! Instructor: Mindy Belden

Health & Fitness Camps
Food, Fitness, and Fun Camp! (ages 7 - 12)
Hop, skip, jump or run for a week of food, fitness and fun! Kids will learn about healthy lifestyles like good nutrition and physical activity. Learn to make a new recipe every day and engage in other hands-on activities that promote lifelong healthy habits. We are excited to offer this with support from our NRPA Community Wellness Hub grant! Instructor: Johnson County K-State Extension Office

Sports Camps

Tennis Mini Camps (ages 5 - 14)
Players will use age-appropriate low compression tennis balls and court space that make learning the game easier and more fun than traditional teaching methods. Camps are available for all levels of play. Campers will need to bring a water bottle and a racquet. Instructor: Play Tennis West. Location: Mill Valley Tennis Courts, 6020 Monticello Rd.

Super Star Cheerleading Camps (ages 5 - 12)
We’ve got spirit, yes we do! We’ve got spirit, how about you? Get into the spirit with this fun-filled camp that is packed with excitement. Learn cheers, chants, jumps, dances, spirit techniques and much more! All participants will receive a camp t-shirt. Instructor: Grace & Wendy Nab

VolleyCamp
 
(ages 8 - 11)

Designed as an opportunity to “dig” into the sport of volleyball for first time players to learn passing, setting, hitting and more. Experienced players can stay active over the summer and polish their skills before the season begins! Instructor: Coach Sarah-Margaret Heffernon

LTD Basketball Clinic 
(ages 7 - 14)
Livin’ the Dream provides a camp that intensely focuses on the learning and development of basketball fundamentals. LTD Camps are filled with professional coaching, skill development exercises and fun competitions. Registration fee includes t-shirt and other giveaways. STEM Camps
Secret Agent Lab Camp (ages 7 - 11)
Step into the shoes of a detective! Uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Become a super sleuth and learn clever ways of performing tasks in this hands-on view of the science that spies use. From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment, and discover the technological tools of detection! Instructor: Mad Science.

Pets Palooza Summer Camp (ages 6 - 12)
Wag on over to the most PAWSOME camp in town! You and your STEAM Team will engineer a world created just for pets: From Pets Palooza Hotel Day to Having a Ball Day to Give a Dog a Bone Day. You’ll even get to adopt adorable pretend pets of your own and create habitats to match their needs and personalities! This STEAMtastic camp gets two paws up and is a must for every pet-loving kid! Total Slime Takeover Summer Camp 
(ages 6 - 12)
By colossally popular demand comes this squishy, squashy, stretchy sequel to our bestselling Slimetopia camp – Slimetopia 2! This time, the world is being taken over by slime! You and your STEAM Team will ooze with excitement as you visit countries across the globe making a different kind of slime at each destination. From Italian pizza slime to Antarctic penguin slime to Hawaiian lava slime to other slippy, drippy, gooey, global slimes in between.  Instructor: Challenge Island of Johnson County

Rockin Robots Science Camp (ages 6 - 12)
Children learn about the uses of robots in our world, how they sense and move, and spend time programming robots and participating in robot relays. Get to Know a Real Life Sweet-preneur, Dylan Lauren of Dylan’s Candy Bar! You and your STEAM Team will learn the importance of a creative business strategy and company slogan before creating your own candy-themed games for your candy shop!   Instructor: Challenge Island of Johnson County

Clues, Crimes and Culprits 
(ages 5 - 8) 
Oh NO! The Mad Science monkey is missing! Join the us as we gather evidence from the crime scene and take it back to the lab to analyze it. As the week goes on, we will use chemistry, forensic science, physics, and biology to solve the crime. Each Jr. Mad Scientist will get a lab coat, magnifying glass, and a case notebook to keep.  Instructor: Mad Science.

Space Adventures LEGO Camp (ages 6 - 11) 
During this adventure down the Amazon River, campers will hop in the Jungle Boat Cruiser to search for the secret Tree of Life. Campers will navigate around chomping crocodiles of the river, sneak past indigenous tribes protecting hidden treasures, and make friends with the animals of the jungle! STEAM Tank Day Camp - Pizzapreneur (ages 6 - 12)
Learn about some of history’s famous entrepreneurs, including Tom Monaghan, the founder of Domino’s Pizza! You and your STEAM Team will brainstorm, plan and “build” your own pizza business using only the items in your treasure chest. Finally, we’ll try our hands at creating and spinning (paper) pizzas!  Instructor: Challenge Island of Johnson County

Race Across Anaconda Swamp Camp (ages 6 - 12)
Race into an unforgettable journey through the amazing Amazon Rainforest. You and your STEAM Team will zip through the jungle’s action-packed layers, taking on challenges inspired by the rainforest’s awesome animal inhabitants. This magical camp is a must for all kids who love animals, books, and endless adventure! Mining & Crafting LEGO Camp 
(ages 6 - 11) 
Experience the world of Minecraft with LEGO® bricks in this fun camp. Kids will start by crafting their shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools using LEGO® bricks. Remote Control Mania LEGO Camp

Kids will see their creations in motion using LEGO® wireless remote controls during this hands on camp. Eureka! Inventor's Camp  
(ages 7 - 12) 
Creative Contraption Warning! Each day inventors will be given a series of challenges which must be overcome using basic materials, simple machines, and your mind! With a little bit of ingenuity, you'll construct catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing robot and assemble a working light saber to take home.   Instructor: Mad Science.

Computer Camps
iCode Camp (ages 6 - 12)
This course offers younger students a fun, interactive look at coding. Students will create virtual apps and write their own programs that they can share with friends and family. This course makes learning to code fun and explores problem solving and programming logic. Students will have access to their accounts so the learning does not end at the door. **Students should be able to read prior to taking this course. Instructor: Youth Tech Inc.

ROBLOX Studio - Programming and Game Development Camp

Calling all ROBLOX users! Join in with millions of gamers and immerse yourself in your own 3D world! ROBLOX Studio is a 3D-based program that uses physics, LUA programming, and individual creativity to build a world around you, and your avatar - unlike any other software This course will guide students through concepts such as beginner physics, LUA programming, and game development. Aquatic Camps
Junior Lifeguard Camp (ages 11-14)
Learn the important lifesaving skills required to ensure a safe aquatic environment. Participants will get hands on experience in the classroom and on the pool deck with the week ending shadowing lifeguards.
