Update on Johnson County Health Order

On Monday, December 14, the Shawnee City Council voted 4-4 against a Consent Agreement with Johnson County that would have allowed Johnson County Code Officers to enforce the County's Health Order No. 002-20 in the County Codes Court. To be clear, the County Health Order will be enforced by City of Shawnee staff. Here is clarification on what this all means for Shawnee residents.

  • The Kansas Governor’s Mask Order remains in effect. If you have concerns about the mask mandate, please contact the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office at (913) 715-3003.

  • If you have concerns about the Johnson County Emergency Public Health Order No. 002-20, contact our Business Liaison Steve Hauck at (913) 742-6214 or shauck@cityofshawnee.org. You can read the full order here. Concerns falling under this order would include the following;

    • Restaurants and/or bars with tables located within six feet of each other

    • No more than eight people at any table

    • Congregating at bar or waiting areas

    • Mass gatherings of more than 50 or more than 50% capacity unless it is a business that is excluded

    • Bars and restaurants closing after midnight

    • This health order expires on January 31, 2021.
