What does a City Clerk do exactly?
-Records management for the City, including filing and maintaining records per state statute.
-Certifying and publishing Resolutions and Ordinances that are passed by the City Council.
-Providing public records for the public as needed based on requests.
-Administering oaths of office for local elected officials and swear in our Police Officers.
-Assist with drafting and publishing of our City Council and Council Committee meetings.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love Shawnee and the people I work with. Every day for me is different and each one of my daily tasks allows me to help others. 

What is something within your job duties that most people wouldn't expect or may find interesting?
The City Clerk position is one of the oldest public service positions. Ordinance No. 1, was the first Ordinance approved by Shawnee's City Council in 1922 which established the first position of the City- the role of the City Clerk. Currently, we have 3,458 Ordinances.

How do you spend your free time?
I love to travel, attend sporting events, and spend time with my family.
