The Shawnee Police Department is spearheading an effort during the entire month of April to raise awareness about Child Abuse Awareness Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Be sure to keep an eye on social media accounts for both the Shawnee Police Department and the City of Shawnee throughout this month. Here are some of the things we have planned.

We are collecting items to donate to Sunflower House and MOCSA all month long. You can find donation bins in the Shawnee Police Department lobby at 5850 Renner Road and also in the City Hall lobby at 11110 Johnson Drive. Here are the needed items.

  • 10”-18” teddy bears
  • Individually wrapped snacks
  • Juice pouches
  • Travel-sized toiletries
  • $10-$20 gift cards
  • Markers, crayons and colored pencils
  • Toothbrush kits
  • Deodorant

Please plan to stop by a supplies drive on Saturday, April 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Walmart at 16100 W. 65th St.

You might also notice blue and teal magnets on our police vehicles throughout April.

We want to thank you in advance for helping us mark this important month as the safety of our residents is always the utmost priority.
