Monticello Road

The Monticello Road reconstruction project, from Shawnee Mission Parkway to the 7900 block of Monticello Road, was originally included in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for construction in 2008. Plans for construction were completed and approved in 2009, along with all permanent right of way (ROW) acquisitions needed for the project alignment. Due to various issues, the project was delayed. Phase II of the project is expected to wrap up in May 2023.

The Project plans approved in 2009 will be divided into two separate projects, Phase I and Phase II, in order to maximize outside funding. The two phases are:

  • Phase I - Monticello Road from Shawnee Mission Parkway to 71st Terrace and 71st Terrace from Monticello Road to Chouteau Street (completed in 2021)
  • Phase II - Monticello Road from 71st Terrace to 7900 Block of Monticello Road (kicked off construction in 2022 and will be finished in 2023)

We held public meetings for Phase II Monticello Road Project in October 2021. That is where the design plans for Monticello Road between 71st Terrace and 7900 Block were reviewed.
