Child Car Seat Safety | Scooters - Motorized | Smart Trailer | Speed Watch The Shawnee Police Department Traffic Safety Unit became fully operational in January 2002. The Unit was formed after the City of Shawnee received a federal grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation to hire additional officers and purchase specialized equipment to help reduce the number of traffic crashes in Shawnee. The unit is composed of one sergeant and five officers. The officers assigned to the unit receive intensive training in areas such as:
The Traffic Safety Unit utilizes state of the art equipment and technology to assist in investigating traffic crashes and enforce hazardous moving violations in the City.
