Honor Guard

The Shawnee Fire Department maintains an active Honor Guard. This group has participated in parades such as Old Shawnee Days and the St. Patrick’s Day parades as well as lending a Fire Department presence at retirement celebrations and civic functions. They have been called upon to lend dignity to funerals for fallen firefighters from around the state and region as well as for retired firefighters at the family’s request.

The Shawnee Honor Guard has represented the Fire Department recently at the Fire Department Instructors Conference Honor Guard competition. Each year honor guards from around the nation meet to compete in several skills. There is an inspection, a flag presentation and a casket detail with flag fold. Our team has placed well in these competitions, receiving 2nd place trophies two out of four years.
