Shawnee Encourages e-Waste RecyclingThe City of Shawnee and R3 Technology are teaming up to host the first annual e-waste recycling event on Saturday, May 3, 2008. The event will be located in the Splash Cove parking lot at the Jim Allen Aquatic Center at 57th and King. The e-waste recycling will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This event is open to the general public. Electronic devices can be conveniently dropped off for recycling – most items are free of charge, which include: laptops, servers, VCR’s, cell phones, PDA’s, printers, copiers, fax machines, keyboards, routers, speakers and more. All hard-drives will be wiped clean or physically destroyed as part of the recycling process. There will be a small fee of $7.50 for televisions and $4.00 for computer monitors. All vehicles should access the parking lot by turning north at Johnson Drive and Cody Street and then follow the signs.
