Permits

 

Public Improvement Permit

A Public Improvement Permit is required for all public improvement construction, including streets, stormwater drainage, and street lights. Permits are required for both residential development and non-residential development construction.

APPLICANT: Submit the following items together to the Engineering Division, Attention Development Engineer, 11110 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. Incomplete submittals will not be accepted. Prior to submittal, confirm with the Development Engineer that the construction plans have been approved.

  1. Construction cost estimate for the public improvements:
  2. Estimate must include quantities and unit prices. Lump sum estimate is not acceptable.
  3. Quantities shown in the estimate must agree with the Summary of Quantities listed on cover sheet of plans approved by the City Engineer.
  4. Public Improvement Permit Application (pdf): Applications are available from the Engineering Division at City Hall, or, print and fax to (913) 248-2314.
  5. Performance and Maintenance Bond (pdf): (2-year) in an amount equal to the construction cost of the public improvements. City standard bond form must be used.
  6. Certificate of Insurance: The City of Shawnee must be listed as the certificate holder.
  7. Pay two percent (2%) inspection fee. The inspection fee is calculated from the total construction cost of the improvements in the construction cost estimate. Checks should be made payable to the City of Shawnee.

Note: The construction cost estimate is subject to review and approval by the City Engineer. The Engineering Division will process the permit application within two (2) working days after all of the above items have been received.
