Arcade LicenseChapter 5.12 of the Shawnee Municipal Code regulates the operation of arcades. Arcade means a business which provides a place for the operation of amusement devices such as pinball machines, air hockey, foosball, pool tables, shooting gallery-type games, skill ball, electronic games, and coin operated amusement machines, apparatus, paraphernalia, or other devices which are available for use by the public and which business derives more than fifty percent of its gross receipts from persons using such amusement devices. RegulationsIt is unlawful for any person to operate an arcade within the City without first obtaining the required license from the City Clerk’s Department. A separate license is required for each arcade. No Arcade shall remain open between the hours of 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. No person under the age of eighteen shall be allowed on the premises between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8 a.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. No person under the age of twelve years of age shall be permitted on the premises unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. No person under eighteen years of age shall be allowed to be on the premises before 3:30 p.m. or after 9 p.m. Monday through Friday on any school day or after 9 p.m. on Sundays. FeesThe fee is $100.00 per application and is due at the time application is made. |
