Michelle Distler was sworn into office as a Ward IV Councilmember in April 2006.

Michelle is a lifelong Ward IV resident. She is married to Rick Umberger, and has one daughter, Jeydan Umberger.  Michelle graduated from Friends University with a Master of Human Resources Development/Organizational Development and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership and an Associates of Arts from Johnson County Community College. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School, class of 1992. She is a Employee Relations Analyst for Embarq.

Michelle has been involved in many charitable endeavors over the years including the American Diabetes Association, Will to Succeed foundation, Operation Breakthrough, working with special needs children and adults, and several years ago Old Shawnee Days with her high school.
