Public Works Service Center Renaming
News from Shawnee

A formal ceremony marking the official renaming of the Public Works Service Center to the Frank C. Goode Public Works Service Center will be held on Friday, August 6, at 8:30 a.m. in front of the building at 18690 Johnson Drive.

In April, the City Council voted to honor outgoing City Councilmember Frank C. Goode for his more than 30 years of service to the City of Shawnee. In making the recommendation to rename the Service Center, Mayor Meyers said, “Mr. Goode has long been a supporter of the work that our sometimes “unsung heroes” in the Public Works Department perform. He knows, and I can’t agree with him more, that there’s nothing that makes a neighborhood look nicer than a freshly asphalted road. Mr. Goode has also said that good infrastructure and good road networks are one of the most core values to attracting good development and continued prosperity.”

A new identification sign, centered on the front entrance of the building, will be unveiled as part of the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, Public Works staff will hold an open house. The public is invited to attend.
