Scarecrow Festival
Scarecrow Festival

Celebrate the autumn season at the ninth annual Scarecrow Festival presented by the Shawnee Downtown Partnership Saturday October 5th at City Hall 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

There will be something for everybody! Businesses are invited to participate in the Scarecrow Contest. Merchants all around downtown will create and display scarecrows for public viewing along Johnson Drive and in front of City Hall.

Kids can participate in pumpkin painting and building their own scarecrow. Supplies and decorations will be provided at no cost. Other kids’ activities will be available as well.

For all the aspiring chefs out there, be sure to join the baking contest, which will include categories for pumpkin pie, fruit pie and pumpkin bread. Each winner receives a $50 prize! Slices of pie and bread will be sold afterwards to the general public.

And, don't miss out on the Farmers’ Market. Fall crops abound! For more information about events or to get a contest entry form, call 742-6226. Don't miss out on this popular event!
