Shawnee, Kansas is served by 2 public school districts and several private schools. The eastern 1/2 of the City is in the Shawnee Mission School District (USD 512) and the western 1/2 is served by the DeSoto School District (USD 232).

The DeSoto School District covers 100 square miles and includes the city of DeSoto and parts of Shawnee, Lenexa, Bonner Springs, and Olathe.
