Jim Neighbor was sworn into office as a Ward I Councilmember on May 10, 2010 to fill a vacancy from Ward I.

Jim and his wife Cindy have been residents of Shawnee for 35 years. They raised four children and have four grandsons. Jim is a retired United Airlines 747-400 Captain and flew for 34 years.

Jim is a graduate of Shawnee Mission North High School. He also has his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas and attended graduate school at the University of Kansas. He is a graduate of Shawnee Leadership Class of 2010. He is a member of Old Mission Methodist Church.

Jim is a trustee for the John Austin Cheley Foundation of Estes Park, Colorado. He enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and garden railroading.
