David Morris was sworn into office as Councilmember for Ward II on April 12, 2010.

David and his wife Paula have been residents of Shawnee for 16 years. His community involvement includes co-founding Rebuilding Together Shawnee of which he is co-president. He has served on the Shawnee Marketing Plan steering committee and on the steering committee for the Greater Kansas City, MO Downtown Area Plan. He chaired the Shawnee Downtown Partnership from 2001-2006. David was also President of the Crossroads Community Association, known for its “First Fridays” art events, from 2008-2010.

David Morris is a graduate of the Shawnee Leadership Tomorrow program. He was named the Shawnee Citizen of the Year in 2005 and was the winner of the Kansas City, Missouri Urban Hero award in 2007. He is the owner of an advertising photography business he started 22 years ago.
