Michelle Distler was sworn into office as a Ward IV Councilmember in April 2006.

Michelle is a lifelong Ward IV resident. She is married to Rick Umberger, and has one daughter, Jeydan Umberger. Michelle graduated from Friends University with a Master of Human Resources Development/Organizational Development and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership and an Associates of Arts from Johnson County Community College. She attended Shawnee Mission North High School, class of 1992.

Michelle is involved with many organizations including Will to Succeed, Adopt-A-Highway, United Way, Harvesters, Special Olympics, St. Jude’s, American Diabetes Association, City Union Mission, Field of Dreams Pet Adoption, Animal Haven, Support Our Troops, Salvation Army, Operation Breakthrough, and has donated 14” of hair to Locks for Love.
