RESOLUTION 601
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SISTER CITY PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF SHAWNEE, KANSAS.
WHEREAS, the Sister City Program is committed to the goal of enhancing global understanding by encouraging relationships between U.S. communities and their citizens and communities throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, twelve fellow cities in the state of Kansas have become active participants in the Sister City Program joining with other countries throughout the free world in an effort to increase international understanding; and
WHEREAS, the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and the Shawnee Historical Society have expressed their willingness to "endorse and actively support" the Sister City Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SHAWNEE, KANSAS:
That the City of Shawnee, Kansas, hereby states its support of the Sister City Program and its goals and further states its intention to proceed in establishing a Sister City affiliation.
ADOPTED by the City Council this 28th day of March, 1983.
