Drainage Improvements
P.N. 3285 - Turkey Creek Tributary at Johnson Drive City Staff Contact:
Cynthia Moeller-Krass (913) 631-2500 x 236 Project Description: The scope of the project includes making improvements to the Turkey Creek Tributary between 57th Street and Flint Street south of 59th Street. The storm drainage improvements are needed to address flooding of streets, homes, a business and a church. This project is 75% funded by Johnson County Stormwater Management. The City’s portion of the project is budgeted in the Parks & Pipes fund. Project Status: The project is currently being bid and is expected to be awarded on April 14, 2008. Construction south of Johnson Drive is not permitted to begin until May 27th when St. Joseph Education Center is scheduled to release for the summer. Construction between 57th Street and Johnson Drive is not scheduled to begin after June 8, 2008. Once a contractor has been selected, project information will be sent to adjacent residents and businesses. Construction is expected to take 160 days and be completed in early November 2008. The purpose of this project is to alleviate flooding of area homes and streets. This project is 75% funded by Johnson County Stormwater Management. The City’s portion of the project is budgeted in the Parks & Pipes fund. Project Status: Construction was scheduled to be completed in late January. Weather permitting, the latest schedule shows that final restoration should be completed by mid-April. P.N. 3328 - Monticello Meadows City Staff Contact:
Cynthia Moeller-Krass (913) 631-2500 x 236 Project Description: The scope of the project includes making improvements to the storm drainage system in the Monticello Meadows subdivision. The purpose of this project is to alleviate flooding of area homes and streets. Overflow from area storm drainage ponds will be collected and carried by both open channel and enclosed piping. This project is 75% funded by Johnson County Stormwater Management. The City’s portion of the project is budgeted in the Parks & Pipes fund. Project Status: The construction contract was awarded on March 24th. Construction is expected to start in early April and be completed by October 2008. Storm Sewer Mapping and Data Collection City Staff Contact:
Cynthia Moeller-Krass (913) 631-2500 x 236 Project Description: Over the next few months the City of Shawnee will be conducting Phase 5 of 6 phases of a data collection project for the purposes of mapping our storm sewer system. Phase 1 - 4 are complete and cover Shawnee, east of Lackman. The Peridian Group, Inc. is collecting the survey data throughout several sections of the City. Peridian employees will carry identification and a letter from the City. Project Status: Peridian’s survey crews are continuing to gather data in neighborhoods from Lackman west. If a property borders a storm sewer structure or a nearby side street, it may be necessary for the survey staff to enter the property to collect the necessary information.
