City of Shawnee Transportation Task Force
August 4, 2016
Stephen called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m. Members present include: Stephen Powell, Norge Jerome, Rod Houck, Jim Courtney, Joyce Pisani, Vicki Charlesworth, Teresa Wolken and Neil Holman.
1. Welcome KCATA
Stephen said that Lisa Womack from the KCATA was unable to attend.
Stephen and Teresa discussed the new RideKC Taxi program. Stephen discussed the working group with KCATA. It was mentioned that we should notify CityRiders about the RideKC Taxi program. Stephen said he would get the information from Lisa and mail it to our riders.
Jim mentioned having materials in hospitals and doctor offices. Rod mentioned the brochure holders he has been placing in offices throughout the City.
There was discussion about the various taxi programs being offered. Teresa explained how 10/10 Taxi is handling the programs.
There was discussion about how various communities in Missouri are participating or planning to participate in the RideKC Taxi program.
2. Approve Minutes from April 21, 2016
MOTION: Teresa/Rod: Approve the minutes. The motion carried unanimously.
3. Ride Reports
Stephen reviewed the various ride reports.
Stephen will ask GIS to make a map of where riders live.
Stephen will ask Jamison about ridership numbers on the expanded 75th Street bus line (575).
Stephen noted that if you take the average number of monthly riders from January through June and forecast through the end of 2016 our ride totals will be close to 2015 totals.
4. New Business
Stephen went over the last quarterly report.
Jim mentioned buying a list of residents who are 65 or older and doing a direct mailer.
Teresa mentioned a packet of information that the USPS provides to residents who change their address.
5. Old Business
Rod discussed the Older Adult Expo in June. The attendance was low. He wasn’t sure if attendance was low because of the venue. Many attendees were from Leawood. Marie assisted. 10/10 Taxi was an exhibitor.
Stephen provided an update on the current 5310 grant. The City will be awarded $30,000 with a 50% match for CityRide.
Jim mentioned having a “give away” like ink pens or beverage cozies or reusable shopping bags. The group also discussed having a CityRide shopping bag with information about the program inside or a direct mailer with a free one-way voucher or a contest/drawing if someone is referred to the program.
6. Miscellaneous Items
Stephen said the next meeting was scheduled for Thursday, October 27, 2016.
