|The Shawnee City Council held its regular meeting on Monday, August 22, 2016. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. and the following actions were taken.|
The Consent Agenda was approved and included minutes from various meetings, approval to allow alcohol at the Wheels and Dreams Car Show and at an event at Erfurt Park, an annual agreement with Metro united Soccer Club, and various Special Use Permits extensions for Planet Fitness and an in-home daycare.
Rusty Mudgett was appointed to the Planning Commission with a term ending on June 30, 2019.
A public hearing has held for the 2017 Community Development Block Grant Annual Plan. Approved projects include 59th Terrace Improvements-King to Barton, Minor Home Repair Program, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, YMCA of Greater Kansas City and Johnson County Parks and Recreation.
Items from the Planning Commission Meeting of August 1, 2016
A Charter Ordinance was passed regarding City Council elections and filling a vacancy in office. Revisions to Policy Statement, PS-7, Conduct of Public Meetings, were approved and a new Policy Statement was approved regarding how the Governing Body will appoint someone to fill a vacancy.
A new Capital Improvement Management Software package was approved. Final plans were approved for the Vehicle and Equipment Shelters at the Public Works Service Center (P.N. 3419) and staff was authorized to advertise for bids. A contract was affirmed for emergency repairs at Lakecrest Drive and Johnson Drive (P.N. 3421). An agreement with Swallow Tail LLC was approved for stream mitigation credits for the Nieman Road Corridor South Storm Drainage Project (P.N. 3400).
Miscellaneous Council Items
Lastly, the semi-monthly claims for August 22, 2016 (city-wide expenses for the period) were approved and the Council held an executive session to discuss land acquisition and to receive attorney-client privileged communications. The meeting adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
