How do I reserve a baseball or softball field? The Shawnee Parks and Recreation Department has 14 baseball / softball fields available for rental. The fields are located at Gum Springs Park, Listowel Park, Swarner Park, Water Tower Park, Stump Park and Garrett Park. Field reservations are taken starting the first working day of February of each year. Field reservations must be made in person at the Shawnee Civic Centre. The cost is $5.25 per reservation and must be paid when reserving the fields. From February 1 - March 15 of each year, ball field reservations are limited to Shawnee residents or business owners. Any fields not reserved prior to March 15th will be made available to the general public starting March 16th. Teams are limited to 2 practice periods per week; one on a weekday (Monday - Friday) and one on the weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Does the City have open gym time for residents? Yes. The City of Shawnee considers "Open gym" to be that period of time when Shawnee residents with a Membership Card may use the gym for recreation purposes at no charge. Open gym hours are Tuesdays 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Times may change without notice. Please call in advance to confirm open gym. Only Shawnee residents with a Civic Centre Membership card may participate in Open Gym. To obtain a membership card, residents 18 years of age or older must present 2 forms of identification (both with their Shawnee address). There is no charge for the card. Cards are good for one year.
