Codes Administration Division - Building Permits

The Code Administrative Division is responsible for ensuring that new construction on private property complies with all municipal construction codes.  This Division of the Public Works Department issues building permits, plan review, and building inspections.  The Codes Division is also responsible for property maintenance ordinance enforcement.

Building Codes

At the February 28, 2005 City Council meeting, Council adopted new building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes. These new construction codes will apply to new projects with a permit issued on or after April 1, 2005. The codes adopted are:

For new buildings, a plot plan is required.  Category II subdivisions require more detailed information.  The complete list of Category II subdivisions are as follows:

Building Permits

Building permits are issued by the Codes Administration Division. Plans prepared by a design professional are required for all buildings including single family and two family residential structures. Permit guidelines are available for commercial, grading, tenant finish, retaining walls, single family dwelling, and demolition.
